(See it Here) Google has made many changes and will continue to do so and most businesses out there are not taking full advantage of or know what posts are allowable and this blog post should help you understand what you can do!

  9. Menu:  If you own a restaurant business you can post a current menu.

The purpose of a Google Business Profile (GBP) Event Post is to help you increase visibility and drive attendance for your events.

A GBP Event Post is a type of Post that allows you to announce and promote events happening at your location. The event post includes details such as the event date, time, and description, and it appears on your GBP profile and Google Maps listing. Customers can RSVP to the event, and you can also receive notifications about the number of attendees.

Event Posts: active until the end date of the event.

A GBP Offer Post is a type of post that allows you to promote discounts, special offers, or promotions. The offer post includes details such as the offer description, expiration date, and terms and conditions, and it appears on your GBP and Google Maps listing. The purpose of a GBP Offer Post is to help you attract customers and increase sales. You can use GBP Offer Posts to offer discounts on products or services, provide coupons, or run other promotional campaigns.  Offer Posts: active until the expiration date set by the business or 7 days, whichever is earlier.

A GBP News Post is a type of post that allows you to share news and updates with your customers or patients or clients. The news post includes a title and description, and it appears on the business’s profile and Google Maps listing. The purpose of a GBP News Post is to keep customers informed and engaged with your business by sharing company news, product updates, industry news, or other relevant information. You can use News Posts to increase your visibility, improve your online reputation, and build a stronger relationship with your customers.

A GBP Product Post allows businesses to showcase their products and their features. The product post includes a photo and description of the product, and it appears on the business’s GBP profile and Google Maps listing. The purpose of a GBP Product Post is to give customers a better understanding of the business’s products and to encourage them to make a purchase. Businesses can use GBP Product Posts to further educate their customers or clients about a particular product or service you offer.

A GBP Photo Post allows businesses to showcase photos related to their products or services. The photos can be of your business’s location, products, staff, or events, and they appear on the business’s Google Business profile and Google Maps listing. The purpose of a photo post is to give customers a visual representation of your business and what it offers, helping them to make informed decisions about whether to visit or purchase from the you.   It allows you to provide customers with a better understanding of your products and services.

The photo size for a GBP post is limited to 10 MB. It’s recommended to use JPEG or PNG files and to have a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels or higher for best results. Additionally, Google may automatically resize larger photos to fit within the required dimensions and file size limits. It’s best to check the specific photo requirements directly with Google to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

A GBP Video Post allows you to share short videos related to your products or services. The video post appears on the business’s profile and Google Maps listing. The purpose of is to provide customers with a visual representation of the business and what it offers, helping them to make informed decisions about whether to visit or purchase from you. You can use GMB Video Posts to increase your visibility, improve your online reputation, and build a stronger relationship with your customers. The videos can showcase products, services, events, promotions, or behind-the-scenes footage of the business.

The video length for a video post is limited to 100 seconds (1 minute 40 seconds). The size of the video file is also limited, and it depends on the file format and encoding. Generally, Google recommends that video files should be under 100 MB. It’s best to check the specific file size and format requirements directly with Google to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

A GBP Q&A Post is like a FAQ and allows businesses to answer frequently asked questions about their business. Customers can ask questions about the business directly on its GBP profile, and the business can respond by providing answers. The Q&A Posts appear on the business’s profile and Google Maps listing. The purpose of a GBP Q&A Post is to provide customers with information they need to make informed decisions about whether to visit or purchase from the business. You can use GBP Q&A Posts to increase visibility, improve your online reputation, and build a stronger relationship with your customers.  You can even post questions you often answer when someone inquiries about your business in this type of post.

A review post is a great way to highlight a particular customer’s review of your business and should be something you do frequently.  It shows that customers like your business or service and adds a human touch.

If you own a restaurant you are allowed to post a current menu or today’s menu or specials in a post.

Always keep in mind a few guidelines when posting on your Google Business Profile (GBP). Firstly, make sure your posts are relevant to your business and what you offer. Secondly, be truthful and accurate, no false or misleading information. Thirdly, keep it professional and respectful, no offensive or vulgar language. Fourthly, avoid spammy or promotional content. Fifthly, don’t infringe on anyone else’s intellectual property. And lastly, if you have a promotion, include all the details so your customers know what’s going on. Lastly, aim for high-quality images and videos, well-lit and in focus.

How Often Should I Post?

As a rule of thumb, it’s recommended to post at least once a week to keep your business profile active and visible. However, you may want to post more frequently if you have a special event or sale coming up. If you’re just starting out with GBP posts, it’s okay to start with a lower frequency and adjust based on your results.

The most important thing is to provide valuable, relevant, and engaging content for your customers, and to post at a frequency that suits your business best.
